November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month—Lower Your Risk
Lung cancer is the number one cause of cancer death in the United States. Every year, nearly 218,000 people are diagnosed with lung cancer and more than 150,000 die from this disease. The best way to prevent lung cancer is to quit smoking and stop using tobacco products.
Medicare covers smoking cessation counseling and lung cancer screening
If you use tobacco, Medicare Part B covers up to 8 smoking cessation counseling visits in a 12-month period and one lung cancer screening per year. You pay nothing for these services if your doctor accepts assignment.
