Lessons Learned from Analytics in Advancing Precision Medicine

Healthcare systems have been adapting to the need to analyze an unprecedented amount of data. The improvements to care delivery and cost have been well-documented, justifying this investment. Now, the arrival of precision medicine applications represents a new challenge.
During this period of transition, healthcare IT managers will face the challenge of managing different types of data as they plan and build systems that will deliver better information to clinicians at the point of care.
Michael Draugelis, Chief Data Scientist at Penn Medicine, will share insights that were learned from programs that have been developed at Penn. Key highlights of the presentation will include how artificial intelligence (AI) can advance treatment and prevention as well as scientific and technical challenges for AI to be successful.
Penn Medicine is one of the world’s leading academic medical centers, dedicated to the related missions of medical education, biomedical research, and excellence in patient care. Penn Medicine consists of the Raymond and Ruth Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania (founded in 1765 as the nation’s first medical school) and the University of Pennsylvania Health System, which together form a $5.3 billion enterprise.
